Imre Bard is a PhD student at the London School of Economics, researching the ethical and societal aspects of human enhancement technologies. He is also the founder of Hack the Senses, a Wellcome Trust supported project exploring new ways to expand the scope of human perception.

Which Superpowers Should We Want?04:45 PM - 05:00 PM Oct 19Augmented and virtual reality hold out the promise of opening up entirely new ways of encountering the world around us, as well as each other. However, they may also allow us to tailor and personalise our perception of reality to an extent that has never been possible before. While this prospect is genuinely alluring, it also points towards a world where individuals experience little outside their own 'youniverse'. Drawing on some promising examples, the talk will discuss how might use these emerging tools to truly expand the scope and horizons of human experience.
